An Interview with Ms. Oliveira
By Reporter C. N. Green
June 3, 2008
In an interview today with Ms. Cristina Oliveira,
President/CEO of AmerinRio, Inc. she explained the mission of AmerinRio,
Inc.
Reporter: Ms. Oliveira explain for
us AmerinRio’s mission of Global Poverty Minimization?
Ms. Oliveira: “Our mission is simple
and at the same time is very complex. It is complex, because our mission
involves millions of people working together to
put an end to the epidemic of Global Poverty. Our mission is
Global Poverty Minimization through the power of one, $1 from 1 person,
for 1 cause for 1 human life, 1 day at a time. In order to achieve our
mission we must motivate every human being that is capable to give one
dollar whether it is, daily, weekly, monthly or even once a year. One
dollar from every American in America today is about 304 million people
that would translate to $304 million dollars. Of course you must
subtract non-working housewives, and children. The revenue of one third
of that number gives us 100 million people that would give one dollar.
That number alone would be one that will greatly reduce global poverty.
One hundred million dollars is enough to make a big difference in
millions of people’s lives. Therefore we determined that motivating
everyone to give $1 to a non-profit of their choice towards Global
Poverty Minimization would minimize or almost eliminate poverty
globally. Our expectation is that all non-profit organizations that
share the same goals as we do should receive a portion of an estimated
$75 million or more from the USA alone.
Reporter: Ms. Oliveira with all that
is going on in the world today especially the rising cost of gasoline,
explain how you plan to motivate people to become a part of the solution
to minimize poverty?
Ms. Oliveira: I know that we are
going through tough times now days. Our goal is to be a transparent
organization with all of our projects, events and financial affairs
being posted on our website to give a clear and concise picture of our
organization for our donors and the public. We are always looking for
creative and innovative new ways for the public to get involved in the
solution to the problem. One creative new event is the Brazilian Samba
Parade in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We believe that the public has been
inundated with photos of the bleakness of poverty so it is our goal to
show the successes. The before and after pictures: from poverty to
prosperity.
Reporter: Tell us more about your
projects, Ms. Oliveira?
Ms. Oliveira: Our Brazilian team is
working very hard developing and analyzing new ways to use the donations
we are receiving. In May we received 10 computers from one of the banks
(ABN AMRO) in Brazil for our information technology classes which will
begin in July. Earlier this year we received dental equipment and all
associated items to set up a complete dental office from Dra Monica
Schubert de Souza of Odontoclinica Cloe. Our goal is to put that
equipment in a mobile facility to travel around Rio de Janeiro providing
basic dental care to citizens that can’t go to the dentist.
Answering your question we have projects in Rio de
Janeiro to teach Bartending, Seamstresses, Computer training,
Restaurant-wait staff training, copy and type setters. We also have a
list of 1,500 children that are playing every week in vacant lots and
are waiting for a playing field, equipment, etc. We still need a few
sponsors for our 15 Cultural Centers in Brazil. These culture centers
will be placed in strategic locations in or near the favelas (slums) in
the major cities. I can go on and on about all the programs we have in
place now and new ones we want to add as the funds come available. Each
of our programs gives the communities new opportunities to make changes
and improvements in their local areas. The Cultural Centers alone will
increase employment in the areas they serve, as well as gain many new
volunteers. Our mobile blood banks and mobile dental facilities will
give many new jobs and function as a means to save many new lives.
Reporter: Ms. Oliveira could you
explain some of the programs that you have or plan to have under
Education.
Ms. Oliveira: We are improving
education in areas where we can persuade government officials to
improve their programs without interference from us or any outsider.
Providing assistance where we can and offer continuing education
programs for those that want to improve their education. Such areas as
Sports—children who have dreams of someday becoming the
sports star or through a course that helps them carry their talents even
further like our programs to create many smaller symphony
orchestras in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Education has many different facets to it. We have the three R’s as it
was referred to here in the USA years ago. That is
Reading, wRiting,
aRithmetic these are the
most basics of a fundamental education. To enhance these areas we
provide extra classes or tutoring. Other components of education are
Sports and the Arts. As soon as we get the final approval from
governmental officials in Brasilia in Brazil we will have several
orchestra’s to start practicing and will soon be performing. In most
cases all it takes is donations of equipment to enhance education in
other countries. We live in a great society here in the USA because we
have the ability to ask for and receive sports equipment, music
equipment, etc.
Reporter: Can you explain for us,
Ms. Oliveira how you feel that AmerinRio can make changes towards Global
Poverty Minimization?
Ms. Oliveira: We believe that if you
give the people the tools and education they need to succeed they can
and will make changes on their own. If you give them everything all the
time they never learn to do anything for themselves. An example of that
is giving food to the poor everyday without teaching them how to plant
and harvest the food they eat defeats the purpose of nutrition for
today. If you give them food, we should also teach them to be self
sufficient. This is where micro-finance comes into play. Every human
alive has the basic instinct built in to survive. In Rio de Janerio we
have many kids on the streets that learn to be great entrepreneurs, from
shoe shine boys and girls to kids selling candy on the streets. With a
little training and tools to succeed they will automatically create new
jobs and industries. In the wild a baby bird learns to eat from its
parents and eventually is pushed out of the nest and forced to fly. If
the baby bird fails to flap its wings it will fall to earth and die.
Many baby birds die because they never learned the basic skills to fly.
Through micro-finance we have seen dramatic changes in
many people’s lives. Their self esteem improves remarkably, we see
increases in their small businesses, their family life improves and many
other areas in their lives change. Not only do their lives change they
help improve and stimulate the markets they are in. Their suppliers,
their lifestyles, their customers all benefit from micro-finance.
Social economic development improves
targeted societies and their citizens thereby giving the world more
products and services to choose from. One of the reasons I feel that we
haven’t excelled much faster in areas of science, health, education and
technology is a lack of socio-economic development in countries that
could have the next Einstein or Bill Gates, or Michael Dell. Right here
in the United States we have many children that could excel but can’t
because their families don’t have the funds to send them to the right
schools. Or another scenario is society won’t allow them to break free
from their area where they live. This is just a few of the things we
will do with the money. For Global Poverty Minimization to work
effectively we will work closely together with the United
Nations—following the Millennium Development Goals.*1a
Reporter: If your organization could
receive let’s say $100 million a year, Ms. Oliveira, how would use that
amount of money?
Ms. Oliveira: We would utilize all
of the resources we have to find new methods, programs and projects to
give the people an opportunity to move from poverty to prosperity. In
order of priority: 1. Health, 2. Education, 3. Socio-economic
development, and number 4. is Micro-finance. By concentrating on these
four areas of major concerns we can and will make a difference in
millions of lives around the world. In our organization we believe that
the first order of business is to restore health to the people. Health
is the biggest player in global poverty minimization because you need
healthy people to work and learn. To achieve healthy people you need
food, medicine, and sanitation through health education. Once you have
the people on the road to good health, then you begin to teach them
number 2, the basics of education. Socio-economic development is number
three because you need a firm economic base to maintain sustainability
and is another aspect that can not be ignored. Fourth on our list is,
Micro-finance and perhaps the greatest deterrent to poverty
minimization. Our reasoning is that the more entrepreneurs you can help
the healthier the local economy becomes. With healthier economies come
more products and services and the more products and services you have
the more entrepreneurs you create who will then find new ways to make or
change existing products and services. For the entrepreneurs you need to
give them the tools needed to succeed such as micro-finance,
mathematics, communications skills as well as other skills and tools
they need to grow their businesses. As I said earlier we would assist
governments with their education programs and fill in where needed. All
over the world we have many small non-profit organizations that need
assistance with their programs. These small organizations do not have
the resources to fulfill their goals and dreams it is our intention to
assist these small organization to succeed. We have added seven such
organizations as our affiliates in Brazil. I would like to invite
everyone to visit our web sites

Invitation to come to Rio de
Janeiro
Our International Committee for
Global Poverty Minimization was invited to Rio de Janeiro for the Pan American
Games being held there.
June 29, 2007--Miami
Ms. Oliveira and our committee for
International Global Poverty Minimization was invited to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
by the president of the Sister Cities there to participate in the arrival of the
Pan American Olympic Torch on Monday the 9th of July. Ms. Oliveira met with
other important and influential people while at the ceremonies to help further
our cause and bring more attention to Global Poverty Minimization.

BLUMENAU,
Brazil (AP) — Forecasters
warned Friday that yet more
rain could fall this weekend
on waterlogged southern
Brazil, raising fears of
renewed mudslides in a
region where at least 100
people have died due to
storms.
Santa
Catarina state's civil
defense department said in a
statement that mudslides
killed most of the victims,
with floods killing most of
the rest. Nineteen people
were still missing and at
least 78,000 people in 14
cities were still forced to
shelter with relatives or
friends or in churches,
schools and other public
buildings.
After
surveying large areas hit by
the mudslides, experts at
Sao Paulo's Technological
Research Institute said
tragedy could strike again
because the earth is still
saturated with water.
